Ordinary maintenance activities on the statue dedicated to Giovanni Boccaccio in Certaldo’s Piazza Boccaccio have already been completed. Activities carried out by Techno System srl on the basis of the proposal made to the Certaldo municipality last April and approved by the council. In essence, this is a donation that the company has made to the community of Certaldo to honour its greatest fellow-citizen.
‘Thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Certaldo and the administration’s technical office, we have commissioned the two companies Lucii Marco and Sani Elia to carry out the routine maintenance of the statue – says Carlo Boccacci, president of Techno System srl – This is a contribution that we wanted to give to the community where, as a company, we have had our roots since 1983 and also by reason of the surname I have (see the inscription on the monument wanted by Giosuè Carducci), my children and all my relatives in Certaldo. Techno System designs and builds thermal and medical equipment completely made in Italy that is supplied in Italy and exported all over the world. The maintenance work we offered to do was carried out scrupulously following the instructions given to us by the municipal technical office both for the choice of materials and the timing of the work. We will also restore the flowerbeds around the statue as soon as possible, always following the indications given to us by the administration’.
‘I also want to say thank you to the administration led by Mayor Giacomo Cucini, to whom we proposed our wish to contribute to the renewal of Piazza Boccaccio as early as the winter of 2024. The administration itself then went through all the necessary steps with the Superintendency, the body interested in the protection of the statue, in order to obtain the go-ahead to proceed – adds Boccacci – Subsequently, with the new administration led by Mayor Giovanni Campatelli, and with the careful and active assistance of the Councillor for Public Works Benedetta Bagni, we were able to complete the work that is the subject of this donation. ‘We are concluding the works for the renewal and renovation of Piazza Boccaccio – says the mayor of Certaldo, Giovanni Campatelli – and the cleaning of the monument to Giovanni Boccaccio could not be missing. In this context, Carlo Boccacci with the company Techno System, who had already asked at the beginning of the year to collaborate with an intervention, was able to make his contribution, which is a bit like the icing on the cake in this overall recovery operation. We can only thank him for having wanted, with this gesture, to manifest his bond with his Certaldo and with the care of our territory’.
